Hello

I have just bought a 1979 Chrysler Cordoba and I've had a little bit of a problem with it. Cylinder number 8 is misfiring I've replaced the distributor, cap, wires and spark plugs, NONE OF THOSE FIXED THE PROBLEM!!! the only thing i haven't replaced is the coil.

could this be the problem? please let me know

thank you all and have a great day.

The same coil fires all the plugs. Have you checked compression in that cylinder?  When you replaced the spark plugs how did #8 look compared to the others? Running too rich? Too lean?

Does that car still have its original Chrysler "Lean-Burn" system installed? That was the first engine control computer and was tough to keep working properly even back in the 1970s. I believe yours would be the 2nd-gen system where there are no centrifugal weights in the distributor and spark advance was controlled electronically.

The chances of those ancient sensors and electronics still working OK today are somewhere between nil and none. (There are no onboard diagnostics. Faults need to be found by hands-on testing of voltages and components.) Although I don't think it likely that a single cylinder alone would be affected by a Lean Burn system fault, if you have that system it needs to be taken into consideration when there are problems.
