I have a 2017 Jeep JKU Rubicon, with V6, 3.6 Pentastar engine, which currently has 53,000 miles. I purchased it new and I bought the Chrysler Mopar 7-year, 75,000-mile extended warranty at the same time. I've had every recommended service, including oil changes, performed at a Jeep Chrysler Dealership. In February 2021 I had check engine light P0016 come on at approximately 45,000 miles, still under the basic factory engine warranty and will within the Chrysler extended warranty. The dealership, who had done most of my oil changes and a large part of other maintenance on this vehicle told me Chrysler would not repair the engine under warranty. I took the Jeep to a different Jeep Chrysler dear who was able to get Chrysler to rebuild a portion of my engine under warranty. Unfortunately, the repair only seemed to lead to more problems. The dealer tried for about 7 months to get Chrysler to repair the engine under warranty but Chrysler still wouldn't repair my engine. I've tried to talk to someone a Chrysler other than Chrysler Cares because they don't. Chrysler Cares is just customer service with no authority, they won't forward you to anyone who can actually help. I've talked to several different lawyers and finding one that will do anything other than write a letter is difficult. Of course, non can guarantee any results, won't even guarantee they'll get a response from Chrysler, and since I'm not independently wealthy sounds like I'd just be throwing good money after bad. I even contacted National Center for Dispute Settlement, LLC (NCDS) seemed like this is something they should have been interested in but no. What good is a warranty?
Any suggestions? I'll certainly understand if this isn't an issue that you deal with.
Read every word of the warranty so you know what is and what is not covered. Small claims court may be in your future.
Or, Judge Judy.
still under the basic factory engine warranty
All warranties are limited. Does your contract state that your problem is covered?
told me Chrysler would not repair the engine under warranty.
what reason did they provide?
the repair only seemed to lead to more problems.
the repair would have stipulated it's own separate terms and conditions
What good is a warranty?
The warranty is only as good as the fine print, and the resources you are willing to commit to enforcing it, unfortunately. They know very well that most people don't pursue it. Cars have always been a sleezy business.
