I have a 1967 automatic Ford mustang 289 V8 its a great car to cruise around! But when i want to put the pedal to the medal the car loses power and stalls out. I took it to a mechanic he did a full diagnostics/tuned the car, and he told me that the air to fuel ratio was off. He suggested that i buy a new carburetor or try to repair the existing one with a repair kit. Im a college kid who loves classic cars, i dont know which carburetor goes with which engine so i am lost. I want to be able to drive the car around, and not worry about it shutting off in front of a traffic light what should i do?

Did he suggest which carburetor? I would just go with that.

I did a quick Google search, CJPonyParts has new carburetors for that engine, they're $385 and some change. The Mustang accessory websites generally have known, good quality stuff. I get Mustang mods for my 2017 from them.

As another collector I can tell you there are various sensors that go at certain points in a engines life.

The air flow meter is usually the problem. Last thing I can tell you stick to oem.
