Clueless of recent strange noise in motion

I can't quite describe this noise. This is a noise resembling a fast ticking clock. Much higher rate than a clock, tik-tik-tik-tik at fast rate only in motion, in milisecond toks.

Not coming from the engine. Somewhere beneath or from wheels. No clue but not engine, not talking about the engine tik-tok rhythm.

This is a new sound and not loud one, have to tune in my ears to discern it. Something is loose maybe, no clue.

I have heard this noise in other people's cars as a passanger. Something related to wheels likely and I might have to visit the local shop and ask them to drive with me because difficult to explain this noise in words.

Could be early sign of bigger problem

Simple, make a YouTube video of the noise & post the link here..

Sorry can't do I know what you saying but it is not loud no way to isolate it from the background noise. You won't be able to catch it on record as it is very subtle to distinguish

Year, make, model & mileage please.

In that case, does it happen when you’re going straight/turning gently/turning sharply/accelerating & turning sharply?

Use this technique to pinpoint the noise -

That's a cool gadget. Hope my local shop has on of those diagnostic tools.

Happens in motion and all the time in constant speed motion.

I suspect a misalligned wheel. Like they put a small block on the wheel to balance it. Rear wheel was punctured a few months ago and I generally know that the patch is good only for a few months 3-4months. It is about that time although the tyre is not flat.

Really hard to say without hearing the noise. If your rear tyre was out of balance, the vehicle would shake/vibrate subtly. If it was your front tyre, you’d feel your steering wheel shaking at high speed. Either way, keep us posted as to the diagnosis of your mechanic.

Hmm okay. The car is not shaking so can exclude this then. I have had bad cabin shake few months ago and they said it was a loosely screwed new mount and the cabin shake disappeared after tightening it. I will update once go to the local shop some day.

Vehicle year, make, model & mileage please.

Scion TC 2006 30k

I had terrible cabin shake my teeth were shaking inside the cabin after a mount change. Brought it back to the shop and said after the mount change you guys made it worse. They assigned a senior mechanic to re-examine the work and he quickly identified the mount was not properly torqued and he fixed it (for free).

are you hearing this immediately after driving? It could just be the metal brake rotors contracting as they cool off.
