I have a 2012 Nissan Versa with a 6 speed manual. Knowing how to drive stick I wonder how long I can expect it to last? How much do you think it should cost to get it replaced if needed?
You showed Duralast in your video which is at AutoZone is it a good brand?
It all depends on individual driving habits, and to some extent, traffic conditions.
I’ve seen some needing a clutch at 15,000 miles. I’ve also seen some 75,000 mile vehicles on the original clutch.
When it’s time for replacement, it’s good practice to replace everything that’s included in the clutch kit. If you’re not doing the work yourself, have your mechanic source the parts for you.
For a regular car, the duralast clutch kit should be just fine..
Depends on the driver and the car. I easily go 100k+ miles on my original clutches...on stock cars.
My '98 Z28 track car though? Even with a heavy duty clutch, I get nowhere near that as it sees launch after launch in a high horsepower car.
DuraLast kits would be fine for your application. You're looking at a couple hundred bucks for the whole kit...nothing crazy.
I have seen some cars with over 220k miles on the original clutch. As @InThrustWetrust said, the driving conditions and habits affect it a lot.
I got 371,000 miles out of my original clutch in my 89 Nissan D21
Only new car I ever had was a 1987 Corolla FX. I drove it for 13 years and over 200,000 miles with the original clutch. I traded it to my dad for A little Toyota truck of similar vintage. Within three or four months, he had to put a clutch in it.
if you become one with your clutch, it will last a long time
