I have an Oldsmobile Bravada 1999 with 160k miles. Check engine light turned on. Scanned it and it said P0420(catalytic converter below threshold in bank 1) my grandpa who’s been a mechanic for 50 years says this isn’t a big problem and I should wait till spring to have him fix it because winter here is bad in Michigan. How long can I drive it with this code?

There is nothing wrong with driving it with this condition. Only if you need to get inspection, then you should fix the issue.

I drove my 2000 Nissan Maxima for several years with that code. Car seemed to run just fine.
