Hey, Scotty

I'm stuck between choosing a 2012 Toyota Camry and Corolla. Which one would you recommend most based on your experience and if must, recommend another year.

Avoid the 2012-2014 Toyota Camry due to potential for transmission shudder issues.  For that generation of Camry, I would look at model years 2015-2017 if you can (2017 was last year of that generation).

Good catch!
I think the 4 cyl is problematic one. V6 is ok.

What year(s) of the Corolla would you recommend?

  1. Well what is your needs out of the vehicle? You also didn't mention if the Camry is a 4 or v6. The vehicles are in two different segments.

Both are good cars.

The Camry is a higher model so obviously it costs more, but you get options like AWD, more horsepower (and fuel consumption), nicer interior etc.

Get the best one that you can afford.

Personally, I would buy neither, I am not a fan of the 2009-2013 Corollas and the 2012-2014 Camrys had torque converter failures, which would require transmission rebuild. I would look at 2015-2017 Camrys since those were excellent model years. My friend has a 2015 Camry XLE 4 cylinder and he loves it.

only i4 Camrys did

2006-2008 Corollas are good, 2015 and up Corollas are pretty good too.
