Hello. Thank you for this forum. I’m a single middle age plus lady and really stress when there are car issues that are hard to diagnose. I have a 2010 Mitsubishi Galant with 121k mikes. Automatic. I’ve tried hard to maintain and never any problems until this year. Now it’s one after another. I currently am having some really strange noises that are almost impossible to describe. It so far has only been happening when car cold. I guess the closest I could say is kind of creaking but that isn’t exactly the noise. I’ve tried to record it but didn’t work. It typically just happens here and there. I thought it happened more when steering but today just realized that when I am parked and shift into different gears it makes the noise. So now I think it is transmission issue. I’ve never had a failed transmission because I drive carefully but it is not shifting hard or having trouble shifting gears or slipping, just making some odd noises when cold. I have barely driven it since this started happening. I know it’s impossible to take to a mechanic and say making noises when it’s not. What is your suggestion on how you would handle.? I live near Knoxville, TN and would love a good reference if you have one. I don’t want to take the car to someone who fixes one thing to see IF that fixes issue - if you know what I mean. I am beginning to wish I sold it instead of doing all the maintenance I have done the last two years. My funds are very limited. Thanks so much for any info you can provide.
Hello Mountain mama.
It sounds a lot like you have worn engine/transmission mounts.

Scotty lives in TN as well. Maybe you could go see him.
