And again, right side bearings are howling like a banshee on my Ford Focus! Oh well Autozone gave me another hub but this time the aftermarket retaining nut was kinda stripped so I decided to buy one from Ford. $22 bucks for a nut seems a bit steep but a much better nut in my opinion. Here's the odd part, the instructions that came with the hub and with the retainer nut are different. With the hub it says to rotate the hub until correct torque is achieved (173 ft-lbs) but the instructions from Ford are install the nut and tighten to 26 ft-lbs, then rotate the hub and torque to 81 ft-lbs, then another 60 degrees. This is the third time replacing this @#@$ thing and the last two I did it per the instructions with the hub. This time I'm doing it per Ford's instructions but 81 ft-lbs seems low to me, what do you guys think?
You're not torquing to 81 for your final torque. it's 81 then another 60 degrees on top of the 81ft/lbs. 60 degrees is a lot, so I'd bet the extra 60 degrees probably brings it in the neighborhood of 173. +/-
OK. I'm just going to leave it and see what happens. Thanks
