I wish I could insert a picture here, Im trying to locate the relay(s) for the cooling fans for my radiator. Most of these relays say the same thing on them. I drive a 4 door '09 Honda Civic 151,000 miles. My cooling fans drained my battery, and Im not sure which ones to pull, so I can go buy them. They are staying on constantly when the battery is plugged in. I have it disconnected now. I have schematics and fuse lay out pics, I just dont know how to insert them. I am trying to avoid going to the "Dealer" .... can someone help.
Under the hood- number 15
@yaser: Thank you, so I pull this relay, and the fans did quit running. This relay isnt that easy to find, I had a parts guy look it up, and he says the only one he can find has a different # of prongs on it. I took it to my 'mechanic' and he said "if you find this relay, you will still have problems" and wants 400.00 to fix it. I am SO done. There is NO ONE like Scotty, none of this makes sense. I am going to keep my eyes on it today, its all hooked up, everything. I will watch to see if these fans come back on. Thank you again. I just dont want to spend 400.00.
i think you have to fix the problem of running fan so it don't overheat. I think there's a short somewhere maybe bad sensor?
@blueray95 it wasnt on long enough for the fans to kick on. I was just glad they finally turned off. Im gonna watch it. Thanks
So, now I find out that my fans just stayed stuck on 'ON' and drained my battery, but now they're working properly. I did hook up an OBD2 digital scanner, and it detected nothing. ? It just read no DTC's detected. It was my 1st time using one of these, and I am not going to bring it to a mechanic until I am 100% certain it needs it. I have road side assistance on my Insurance policy, so maybe I will be ok. I could have avoided this whole mess if I did have a GOOD mechanic check it out when I bought it, but I sort of felt that it would make the purchase a long time endeavor, when I had been without a car for years! So my next question is if an old OBD2 scanner picks up nothing on an '09 Honda with 151,000 miles, the scanner is cheap, or a failure in communications. My mechanic says there is an electrical issue somewhere, but I am leery that he wants 400.00 to fix this.... NOT so fast! He had dollar signs going around in his head... I sensed it. I need my 400.00.
So my plan now is to just hold on to my money, and see what happens ... and keep an eye on the fans next time I park for the evening. Also I think I need a complete diagnostic scan, but I need a TRUSTED tech. I wonder if AutoZone would be a good place to have it scanned... seems like a neutral party.
