CRV vibration

Have 2005 Honda CRV, 141k, 2WD, Automatic, it has a vibration when driving btw 40 to 50mph. Slightly speeding up or slowing with stop the vib. Mechanic said needed new front ball joints. Replaced them for $600 but it still has the vib. He also says lower control arms need replacing. Could it be those causing the vib. or could it be the torque converter. How can I test to see what it is? Steering is good and tight. Does not pull to either side. Tires are nearly new with no signs of uneven wear. If it is the torque converter, is that a DIY job to replace? Thanks

Sounds like he's pretty crappy mechanic to me. I'd get a second opinion. Any front of alignment mechanic could figure out if it was in the front end or in the transmission instead. If it isn't the transmission, forget changing the target video yourself. You have to pull the transmission off and that's a gigantic job
