CVT transmissions

For Scotty,

I have a 2015 Honda CR-V. Excellent car...no problems, less than 30K miles ( don't drive it that much). Its a 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive. Believe it has a CVT transmission in it. This Honda is not as peppy as the 2013 Honda CR-V we had. I remember your earlier comments about the CVT transmission especially the NISSONs....good for about 100k miles and then chunk it.  The Hondas and I think, the Toyotas now have the CVT transmissions. What is your experience with the Honda/Toyota CVT transmissions? As my  2015 Honda mileage increases to 100k, should I be considering a trade in/sale.?

Thank you TeeJay

Not sure what Scotty will say but I'm personally scared of CVT. It's a belt driven pulley system that switches ratios. I'm not a mechanic like Scotty but See https://youtu.be/PEq5_b4LWNY
Find out how CVT transmission systems are made to work and see what you think of them. Does a belt system seem reliable? Is there something that you notice that makes them seem stronger than an ordinary rubber belt driven system?

My 2015 Honda CR-V went through 2 CVT transmissions by the time it has 56,000 miles.  I changed the fluid at 30k with the Honda fluid, but that did not save me.  I know there was a TSB on that transmission, maybe a recall, I am not sure.  I will not own a CVT tranny again.  I am looking at Toyota Highlanders and they have an 8 speed transmission that Scotty has complemented in the past.
