[Solved] DEF Jammed

Hey Scotty, how can thousands of diesel vehicles just sit in the garage or driveway for months on end because of a chip shortage? GM won’t tell me anything and just says the DEF part is on back order. Funny, I don’t read any news articles about similar problems sidelining diesel ambulances, school buses or other diesel vehicles. I find it very hard to believe the chip in question that operates cars and light duty trucks is very different from the chips that are available for other diesels.  It doesn’t add up.  I cannot believe there couldn’t be a temporary fix for consumers until replacement parts could be made.  Our treatment has been uncivil.  If the powers that be don’t want civilians to have diesel cars or light trucks then I’m sure they could regulate that change in a more civil way, over a period of time.  I’m not trying to indulge in any conspiracy theory, but I sure feel like I’m being persecuted for choosing a diesel vehicle. I’m not buying the BS story that nothing can be done.

Thank you for a personalized response. Just a quick follow up. After 4 months, the GMC dealer finally got the DEF parts to fix my 2018 Terrain. I was shocked they fixed it for free even though the car is out of warranty.

Pretty much GM is just a poorly run company. My AC guy here in Tennessee has been waiting over a year for us Chevy truck he ordered for his business that he paid over $120 grand for. It's just a crap company and they can't sell a diesel unless all the pollution equipment is working my federal law so the bean counters win again
