Defrost stuck on high

Scotty, I have 2014 F150 EcoBoost with 94k miles I bought a year ago. 6 months ago when I started my truck, the defrost blower was on high and would not turn off. I could still change the temperature and still control the to the dash and floor vents, but still only the high setting. When I turn the air system off completely, it still blows defrost only on high. I took it to be repaired at the dealer I bought it from since I got an extended warranty. After replacing 2 parts that weren't the problem, they replaced a resistor that seemed to fix the problem, of course a part not covered, so I was out $400 bucks, but my air worked. Last week, I turned on my defrost on for the first time this fall, and within seconds the same problem came back, full blast and wont turn off. Took it back to the dealer explained that this was the same problem from 6 months ago. They diagnosed it this time versus changing parts until it worked like last time. This time they say the problem is an actuator that is bad. (They had some turnover since last visit, so had to explain I was in for the same problem already) Of course it's not covered either. My main question is could both of these parts going bad cause the exact same problem or was it never fully repaired the first time and now trying to get me for more money? If I dont have them do it, can I do it myself and do you happen to have a video for it? Also, any advice you could give on this issue?

Thank you in advance,

Scott S

Well sounds like more than a coincidence for me to me. If the actuator is wearing out it can ruin the other parts so they replaced the part that went bad but the actuator was the underlying problem and now it finally went out entirely but you'll never get any satisfaction from those guys they're just covering their own asses

Thank you Scotty!
