Hi Scotty, I'm part of a small but unfortunate group of Ecoboost owners with an overheating problem. I tow a travel trailer that weighs about 6,500 fully loaded, well within the over 10K spec for my 2016 F150 Ecoboost (3.5) with the max towing package. The truck does a great job pulling it with no issues, except it overheats after about 1-2 hours of pulling in hot weather. I'm able to ride the speed/gears and keep it from red lining and going into "limp" mode, but it's super annoying. I've seen a ton of people complain about this and every option under the sun thrown at fixing it. I already replaced the thermostat with a lower temp OEM one, and that helped a little bit. I'm considering a larger aftermarket intercooler as my first "investment" in getting the issue solved. No problems with daily driving, just towing in heat (I'm in TX) and especially hills/mountains. Should I go with the intercooler or try something else first?
Yeah Id try the larger intercooler and if not that a larger radiator the ones they put in cars they are pretty cheap if you can get a two or three row radiator that would probably fix it
