Hello!
I live up north, and the icy winter here makes me extra glad I have ABS on my vehicle (an automatic 1999 Buick Century with 84,000 miles and ABS). However, I’d also like to have a vehicle with both ABS and a manual transmission (and preferably 4 wheel drive). Maybe plenty of vehicles with both or all three of those features exist, but I’ve not been able to find them so far, so I wonder if anyone can verify whether they do in fact exist?
Thanks!
Dave
Since you mentioned that you’re looking for manual transmission, ABS, and all wheel drive, consider a Subaru. You can get a Forester with a manual transmission through the 2018 model year. If you go 2014 or older, you can also get an Outback with a manual. The Crosstrek is another solid choice with a manual transmission. If you want something more fun, of course the WRX and STI have always come with a manual transmission. Subaru’s AWD system is fantastic in the snow and ice, especially if you throw on some winter tires.
New cars, it might be hard to find a manual transmission. Less than 5% of new cars are manuals, if that at all.
I recommend looking at an older generation Subaru. Most, if not all their cars are AWD. And I know that manual transmissions were a thing for them too.
I assume they have ABS, because most modern cars seem to have ABS.
I think Japanese brands offer manuals more often than domestics
Yes they exist, I drive one myself. As for AWD, subarus have the best designed AWD system you will ever get, and with their manual transmission, they can last a while too.
Japanese and German cars have a lot of manuals. In Europe, the vast majority of people drive manual transmission.
I would suggest a Japanese one though of the two.
My 1999 Honda Accord is a Manual Transmission and has ABS.
The only new truck I know of with a manual and 4 wheel drive is the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro version.
