Hey guys, I have an 06 Dodge Charger 3.5. I was wondering could the ignition switch stop the coil packs and spark plugs from firing and would it cause the lightning bolt light to stay on.
Yep, it can along with the security system in the key. Try the other key (easy first step). If no go, ODB2 code reading time.
I tried the second key situation. I wanted to see could that cause it because I was thinking about replacing but didn’t want to buy a part I didn’t need. Thought about selling it but I put a lot of parts and money into it. I used a code reader and it’s one of those advance ones. It said the crankshaft position sensor but I replaced it along with the camshaft position sensor and it’s still a no go. Thanks for replying
Absolutely Chryslers from the early 2000's had all kinds of ignition switch problems especially in v6 pt cruiser at the time. if I where you id junk the thing and get a BMW from the same era like a 550i or a 335i. early 2000's Chrysler just isn't worth it.
@ls1hoon54
2000s 550is and 335is aren't that much better. They're fun cars but even higher maintenance than a Charger, and when they do break, they're muuch more expensive to fix. If you want a BMW of that era at least get a RWD with the N52. They're pretty robust engines to start with the added reliability benefit of port injection over the turbo engines. Obviously less power than a turbo but coming from a 3.5L charger it shouldn't be a huge difference, and the driving dynamics are way better than those FCA hunks of junk.
@ls1hoon54 no sir, I don’t like wasting money. I feel like junking a car is a waste to me.
