Hi,
I heard scotty mention on his YouTube channel, that he will plan to get a new Dodge Durango. Is it a best car to keep for a long time unless you know how to maintain them yourself? Or rather get a new Mitsubishi outlander if you have a low budget for a three-row midsize car?
new Dodge Durango (...) Is it a best car to keep for a long time
Obviously not, this is far from being "the best car to keep for a long time".
The platform it's sitting in was completed in 2006, before Chrysler and Mercedes have separated.
This is just a 2000s Mercedes with a Chrysler powertrain...
Also chances are that it will soon be discontinued, as has its sister car - the Grand Cherokee.
I do not think this is a good option, typical Daimler-Chrysler crap.

Obviously not.
Scotty did say that if his car will get wrecked at some time down the line,
That he would consider a Corolla Hatchback manual 2.0L.
(But even there, most likely not new)
Or rather get a new Mitsubishi outlander
Realize that Mitsubishi was bought by Renualt-Nissan.
The Outlander is nothing more than a Nissan Rouge.
Both based on the French Renualt Megane... nothing Japanese about that "Mitsubishi".
low budget for a three-row midsize car?
I'd wait to see if the new Honda Pilot is any good.
The 10 speed automatic seems promising so far.
I can't think of a good low budget 7 seater and most of those did not sell on the US market.
US 3 row cars tend to be based on trucks or big sedans - and not inexpensive economy cars / sedans / commercial cars.

Scotty doesn't buy any new car regardless of the manufacturer.

What engine are buying with? Pentastar V6 or HEMI V8? The ZF 8-speed transmission is good.
Or rather get a new Mitsubishi outlander
Pass on that.
