Does my low mileage 2017 Honda Civic need an Injector Flush?

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2017 Honda Civic with a mileage of only 2,917.  I have only used the car for weekend grocery shopping and I don't drive it in winter.  I used premium gasoline (to avoid ethanol) and MotoMaster Fuel Stabilizer when I parked my car in the garage during the winter.  My question is do I still need a fuel injector flush given how low my Honda Civic mileage is?

I have asked my Honda dealer this question during my visit for oil change recently.  They told me that they don't offer fuel injector flush service, and they don't think it's necessary since I do oil change once a year.  Do you agree?

Many thanks,

Dan

no you don't injector cleaning.

You've barely put any fuel into it.

You don't need it.

Naw, … but what you need to do is take your car out more often! Yes, …

… go for a longer drive - after you finish shopping - say, … once or twice a month for something like 45 min. Your engine needs to get warmed up to full operating temperature and be kept at that temperature for about 20 min. from time to time. This is the only way to drive out all moisture and other combustion products out of the oil on a regular basis. Otherwise, as your car sits, moisture, acids and all other what-have-you byproducts accelerate internal corrosion. Result of that will be a substantial reduction of engine life, … and I mean substantial!

One more thing: … when you park your car for a last time - before the winter! - make sure the car is nicely warmed up by being driven like indicated earlier. This is the most crucial thing you can do to prolong your car’s engine’s life!

Jeez, … I just realized something, your 2017 Honda Civic has only 2,917 kilometres on its odometer and not miles! Yes? And you only shop once a weekend,… and you don’t drive in winter.

If that’s a case, … a most polite suggestion: … You most likely don’t need a car!

You don’t, … take depreciation, rapid deterioration, insurance, plates, and you are much better off to use a taxi each shopping weekend, public transit have stuff delivered to you or such.

I understand, it’s very nice to think that one wants to be independent and mobile at any particular time, … be ready to - on a whim - to drive out to a nearest parking lot and do a dozen doughnuts, et. al, … but seriously. Think for a moment or two, …

F.S., … just musing out loud, forgive me.

Are you actually going to a dealer for an oil change?

I’m totally with @Figmund Sreud on this one. Btw, how often do you change the oil?
