You cannot determine one critique from person to validate the same for all the same make cars....You can't fight data analysis...thats the reality.  If you are so determined...go ahead an buy to your choosing no one can stop you.

If you really like a car and you want to buy it then why not just take care of it your grandpa probably cared about it. Some folks like mountainmanjoe get angry when you post three different questions about a junky Cavalier so I would stay on one forum question if I were you;)

ok sorry about that, i like it when a car breaks down a little bit here and there because i like working on them but the cavalier is extra cool sense its old

I'm cool as a cucumber Cool
Nothing worth getting angry about here.

But yes, don't spam the forum with multiple posts about the same thing please.

The thing is most people want to buy lower quality cars because of their price they can only afford it but if you really like the cavalier and are fine with working on cars then why not go ahead.

if you're experienced with cars, you can get whatever you like. But if you're experienced with cars, you're probably not asking questions in this forum. Anyway, I think we can wind this topic down now.

I am sick of Cavaliers now!  🙂

Scotty pretty much sums up the Cavalier

so looks like you take care of it it will last however I don't know if i want one anymore after seeing this

if you buy it new and take care of it, it can last a long time and you might get good value.

If you buy it 15 years down the road after it's driven the circumference of the Earth then you don't have your head on straight.

Exactly agree with what Joe says. Also you should have known the Cavalier wasn't that safe that is a death trap and in my opinion just like Scotty said they are ugly.

ok I already said I'm not buying one

The Cavalier was an okay car. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. The main thing was they were cheap, they were cheaply assembled out of cheap components. Overall reliability was about average, not horrible but not fantastic either. Keep in mind that they are old and they depreciated extremely rapidly. As a result they are now worth noting, so if you are going to buy one pay hardly anything.

ok

How many more topics are you going to open about the Cavalier? You said you are going to buy it, so stop wasting our time. I guess because your Grandpa owns one that makes you an expert (And I bet you'll drive it like your grandpa too.)

You trying to tell us how you take care of a car and how it's driven determines how well it lasts/performs! Your as crazy as I am!

fine i wont buy one and im not saying im an expert im just confused on how a car thats so crappy can last for 20 years with no problems

You should ask you grandpa. Seriously. He probably looks after it really well. Keeps it in a garage. Drives sensibly. I'm sure he'll have some good wisdom for you.
But mainly, he probably doesn't drive it very much. How many miles does it have?

My post was a bit sarcastic...(and a friendly poke at Joe) but it explains why. Apologies for the sarcasm.

I think it has 250-350k I'm not Shure but he still drives it to Kentucky and and back on a regular basis and hillbilly Apology accepted i jsut wish all the cool cars i like were actualy made well 🙁

Impressive. You must live in a dry state. Original engine + tranny?

yep original Engine and tranny and this was in the Rainy area of Indiana

and the bottom isn't eaten away by rust?

nope the only damage is the paints slightly faded but that's literally it probably thanks to keeping it in the garage when it rained so it didn't get wet that much

well aint that just the darndest little miracle on wheels. It must have angels in the back seat.

Well why don't you take your grandpa's cavalier? Is it not old enough?

well no its that I'm in Florida right now he's still in Indiana and he still needs it.

I can understand liking the appearance of a car, but if you ignore the mechanicals then you will pay for it.

true but it is a 4 cylinder and they have plenty of work room

perfect, you can live in the engine bay because that's where you'll be every day.

wait you're saying the quality is so poor something breaks on them literally every day? if so then ill eather baby the heck out of it or just get a 1998 corolla

what you need to do is stop talking. You're obviously an expert now, so go find a car. After you've driven it for a few months, come back here and tell us how much you love you love your 80s car.

forget it ill just get a 98 Corolla or Camry and not have to worry about repairs

1980s car lover. Don't want to sound like a jerk please understand but the 1998 Corolla is not a great option either that gen had oil consumption and I have family experience with a 97 Corolla those older Corollas have the potential to be very reliable but they need to have been cared for from the factory. At this point I would just look at the older Camry line up and find one that looks decent enough.

1998 Corolla is a fine car.

cool I think ill get one

Well a Cavalier could be trouble free for 20 years in certain conditions and my parents 1997 Corolla was a hunk of junk and could not last 20 years. Depends on lots of factors like wear and maintenance.

wow i legit never knew that thanks for the tip

Is this sarcasm or did you "legit never knew" that?

no I legit never knew that, I'm not a very sarcastic person.

Ok so fyi if you take care of literally any car and don't wear it out like a grandpa, it could last a good 150 200k miles (unless it is a Fiat/Chrysler product), and if you don't take care of a car, it could fall apart early on, just like the Corolla I mentioned.

This looks like a low quality car lot and they couldn't even bother to spell the word "their" right.

im not a huge lexus fan but ill probably buy the 2001 Camry

Have you decided on what you are going to look for or are you still gonna go back and forth between Cavalier vs Camry vs an old Corolla?

Also congrats on taking over the website lol.

no Kerem I think you have pretty much taken over the forum

@mountainmanjoe

What do you mean by this? I am answering questions and trying to help out others is there a problem with my post count? Thanks for pointing that out I noticed it I have eyes just like you.

Attn: 1980sCarLover, when you going to step up to a Cadillac Cimarron? Just curious

never thoes cars are legit junk toyotas and honda's for me and please don't make fun of me for liking a peace of crap car because it looks cool the DeLorean is a crappy car but everyone loves its look

i hope that makes you happy

nahhhh. Not boxy enough. What you want is a Buick Grand National

well i jsut realisez boxy doesent matter if the car is crap so idc

You seem like you would like this:

But I don't know what the make model is just found the image online;)

that's a Ford Fairmont/Mercury Zephy. Not particularly attractive.

You can never get everything you want worse case scenario just get this:

It looks decent its a Corolla it can last and it is a decent family car that looks boxy enough.

oh yeas i love those i just cant find one for sale of that age

You like a nice 240?

YESSSSSS But i prefer non station waggon and also i cant find one in good shape currently on facebook or craigslist

Yeah I remember looking at Florida and there really weren't any but in my area there are a lot of them. Here is a clean one I found:
1994 940 Turbo

Here is one in South Florida:

https://fortmyers.craigslist.org/chl/cto/d/punta-gorda-1993-volvo-940-wagon/7259274702.html

btw before you ask these are very solid cars that can go 200k miles but they are old and they are extremly rare in Florida so I would still go with the Camry but if you wanted to check it out there it is.

I like it, how reliable is this compared to a Toyota Camry?

Like I said they are solid but parts etc. might be harder plus it is ten years old. If you are low on money I would just get the Camry. The Volvo was just food for thought.
