Hi there everyone,
I (Lexus RX400h 2008) backed out of garage with rear passenger door still open. The door extended to a right angle perpendicular to the side of car which is when I heard the noises and stopped!
The door now closes just fine. The window still goes up and down OK, just with a small noise when it gets half way.
However, the top of window/door frame and the car’s frame don’t match up perfectly anymore. So I’m worried about driving in the rain. it sounds kind of like I have a window opened very slightly. And of course, I am wondering if this can be fixed? Hopefully not needing a brand new door!!
Please give advice! What would body shop be able to do. What price would it be?
thanks,
Garrison
The only way to find out is to take it to a body shop. Nobody here is just going to guess.
We can't even see the car. How should we know?
Hypothetically speaking, that's going to need a new door, at minimum. Possibly hinges too.
Worst case you bent the body of the car which will not be economically feasible to repair and it will never be right again.
@mmj - Like my Grandfather said -
"Expect the worst and you'll be half right."
