Door locks on 3 out of 4 only work sporadically

I looked EVERYWHERE to get on the live chat, but the only thing I could find said the video was unavailable because it is private. Do I need a secret decoder ring to be able to watch? LOL

My question is 2 part,

1.  I have a 2003 Buick Rendezvous CX FWD, automatic 3.4L V6 with 185,000 miles. I bought it used back in 2013, and have never been able to get the PASS III system to arm itself, even though pressing the panic key works fine. Also, 3 out of the 4 door locks work sporadically, with the master switch or the key fob. Some doors lock when pressing lock, some don't do anything, some UNLOCK, and vice versa. The only one that works correctly is the passenger rear door. I have replaced the master switch twice and it has not resolved it. Knowing how you feel about GM cars, and I think all us GM owners feel the same way, what do you think is the problem? I have a feeling it might be the BCM, but really hoping it's not, because that means involving the dealership to program it, and I would rather cut off my right arm, less painful. Which brings me the my next question,

2. How do you find an honest mechanic? As a single woman, you wouldn't believe the load of crap I've been told about my vehicle because they assume I know absolutely nothing about my vehicle, or even cars in general, including flat out lying about what is wrong with the car and what it needs to fix it. I do as much of my own repair work as I can, (thanks to you and your channel), but there are some things I can't do because it needs to be put up on a rack, or it's just above my paygrade. Any help you could give on these 2 things would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Being almost 60 I've seen and heard a lot of the same crap you mentioned. Even now; they see my greying hair and figure she don't know anything. Except when I'm done with them; they don't know what truck just hit them. 🤣

Car forums are a good place to learn about issues with your specific car. If someone's had the your same problem, might just have the solution for it. And they're good place to find out info on good repair shops. Most peeps in the forums are good and willing to help out.

Thank you so much for responding. Where I currently am, (and I've been up here for 5 years now, WAAAAAYYYYYY too long), I've only been able to find ONE honest mechanic. Well, two actually, but he works for a shop that is extremely shady and way over priced, so he was limited in what he could do to help, and I just can't afford their prices on a disability check. Just as an example, they quoted me $412 to replace the power window motor and regulators on my Rendezvous, saying that it takes an hour to an hour and a half to do, at $95 an hour, and I had THREE of them that were inoperable. Needless to say, I couldn't afford to spend an entire month's disability check to fix them, so Google and YouTube it was. I've "watched" someone replace theirs, about 6 years ago, but that's it. Even still, the first one took me a little over an hour, because I had to figure out what sockets and tools I needed. The 2nd one only took me 45 minutes. So if a disabled 57 year old woman can replace it in 45 minutes, IN MY DRIVEWAY, WITH ONLY A CORDLESS DRILL, a shop that does these all the time should be able to get it done in 20-30 minutes.

The only other mechanic here that's honest, is great, but REALLY, REALLY SLOW. If he says he's "backed up" and can't fit my repair in, that means he has TWO cars to work on instead of one. He'll have a car for WEEKS. You wouldn't believe some of the other BS I've been told by mechanics up here. Well, YOU might. It's disgraceful. the GM dealership here I don't even let them change my oil after some of the whoppers they've told me about what needs to be repaired on my Rendezvous. I actually HATE working on my car, but if there's any way possible for me to do the work, I'll do it. I truly hope there's a special place in Hell for ANYBODY that takes advantage of the elderly or disabled living off a very meager check and needs to have their vehicle up and running again.

Sorry for the rant, just gets my blood boiling.

No apologies necessary, I know where you're coming from sister.
