Driving a Honda Civic too hard?

Hello Scotty,

How can you make a 2007 Honda Civic withe 230,000 Km (automatic) last forever if I drive it rough? I recently changed the transmission Fluid after 2 years (30k).
Using Castrol Full synthetic and changing every 5K. What else can I do to keep it running if I drive it really hard?

You said it yourself! change and check your oil regularly. With age and a higher mileage often people go about changing to synthetic oils and thicker ones but because your vehicle is quite modern (2012), its better if you stick with the preferred oil. At the end of the day, a car will potentially have a problem throughout its lifetime, whether it be minor or major one. Just stick with the regular servicing and maintenance, just remember, civics are reliable and can last a long time if looked after. 😀

Just keep doing regular maintenance (and visual inspections of components like mounts, wheel bearings, u joints, leaks) and replace parts when they break.  That is a pretty tough car but everything has a lifespan.

Keep good tires and change every fluid more offen. if you drive your car hard it causes more wear no matter what. if you want it to last a while change the oil every 3k miles. you shouldn't have a problem with carbon build up and if you ever do try sea foam but use a stethoscope before u do. also keep clean coolant in it and check common things like ur spark plugs, fuzes, and fuel injectors. also if your car rocks back and fourth when u put it in park, how much it rocks if it does gives you a good idea of the shape of the transmission. good luck cowboy!

Move to the sunbelt.  But seriously, sounds like you're doing everything right.  This year (07) has some design issues with the engine blocks cracking but if that hasn't happened to you yet in over 150k miles maybe you got one of the good ones.  I suggest just driving it till the wheels fall off and not worry about it.
