Hi Scotty.
Im the original owner of a 2012 accord 2.4 with the A/T. Car has 161k ruralish miles...not stop and go. Ive changed the oil every 3k, did the A/T at 50k then every 30k thereafter. Dealer told me a strut is bad but that I could go another 10 to 15k so don't do it yet. CV axle has slight vibration but again, dealer told me don't replace it yet but if I do only do Honda one...says aftermarket is crap. Otherwise no issues.
Question: It runs great and I'd love to run it to 200k or higher! Is that a reasonable expectation, in your experience? I'd rather not buy a car. I know I'm on the original starter, fuel pump and alternator. I worry about those repairs as I've heard they are expensive. Also...Tires are soon going to need replacing. I no longer trust it on long trips because of the original fuel pump starter and alternator. I've seen your video that those years accords are good. Should I dump it now while it still runs and is worth money rather than wait for the tranny to fall out and its worth virtually nothing?
Also...I know you said new accord turbos are better than others because Honda makes them. For longevity purposes however, would I be better off with a new Camry 4 cyl rather than the accord because of the turbo and CVT? I'm only looking at longevity.
Thanks a bunch!
Craig
Should I dump it now

What the?! Why do you want to throw away a perfectly good running vehicle, all for some minor wear & tear parts?
If it has the non GDI K24 coupled to a 5 speed torque converter AT, Scotty has made a video of this powertrain still going strong over 400,000 miles in a CR-V..
I see nothing in your post which screams money pit, unless there’s some severe rusting issues.
Fix all the worn out parts (sure use OEM if you want longevity) and keep driving her for another 10 yrs!
PS. Are the starter, fuel pump & alternator showing any telltale signs of impending failure?
Excellent @itwt!
No. No signs of impending failure. But every time I go to start it, I do wonder is it gonna start? LOL. Only because I have heard starters going bad are a problem on these year accords. Thank you for your insights!!!
You need to relax a little -

It's cheaper to keep'er. I'd continue to fix the one you got. Your one of the few people on the planet that has done the maintenance. It's only 10 years old. Tell the dealer to pound sand.
EXCELLENT @itwt!
Bahahaha! I appreciate it! But actually the dealer has told me even though the strut is bad and the axles vibrate, don't fix them yet...says I can go 5 to 15k more miles before I have to
Please, please, please never believe ANYTHING a car dealer tells you; not even the time of day. Find an honest, independent mechanic. The dealer would love for you yo drive another 5-15K miles so your front suspension system destroys itself and he gets to charge you more money for the now extensive repairs. Get it?
I think you give them too much credit doc. They don't think that far ahead. They'd like to sell you the struts now, rather than let you get away and have the car repaired somewhere else.
You are probably right. Their "thought" process consists of fleecing you NOW.
