ES350 front camera rock chip

Hi Scotty! I recently bought a used 2020 Lexus ES350.  Turns out the front camera has taken a direct hit by a Rick chip and doesn’t function.  The dealer wants $1,800 to replace it.  They also say that if I get a camera somewhere and replace it myself it won’t work, because they have to program it.
mare they just try to rip me off? Or can I buy some aftermarket camera or hit a salvage yard and put it in myself?

thanks.  Love your channel

If you carry full coverage insurance on your car, the comprehensive part of your policy might cover the camera like it would for windshield damage minus the deductable, if any.  Call your agent to confirm.

Well unfortunately it would have to work with that Toyota system and it would need reprogramming. But who knows what a work you can always try a cheap one and then see if a mechanic can reprogram it to work with the system mechanics have the ability to reprogram them to

Did you get any warranty from the dealer when you bought the car?
