[Solved] Eunos automatic not shifting up at first startup of the day...

Pretty much that. It’s a ‘92 MX5 vSpec automatic import and just over 100k miles. Last year I had a local MX5 guy change the ATF and filter as an extra bit of work on an MOT (and I don’t think it had ever been done) and it ran great just after. Then about 6 months later it started not wanting to shift out of first gear when just started. Give it 5 minutes, and it’s fine. I have since changed the ATF and filter again myself, as well as the vacuum modulator (which made a HUGE difference to shifting) but it still wants to wait 5 minutes or so before behaving.

There’s no transmission slipping. None. In fact it’s tighter than it’s ever been, and runs like a top. I just have to gently accelerate in 1st and shift from D to 2 to get it out of first gear, then as I speed up, back into D to get to 3rd. 5-10 minutes later, it’s all good for the rest of the day.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

realize you really want a standard transmission one of those the automatic is the weakest point yours is starting to break down internally

I really didn't want to admit it, but that's been my fear. Love the car too much to get rid of it, so time to start saving and get a rebuild.
Thanks for that.
And love the youtube videos!
