Hi Scotty.

I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I just love what you do.

I have to buy a car in the near future but I don’t actually know what to get. As I live in europe I couldn’t really find any videos about reliable european cars as you’re content is mainly for the US market. Is there any chance you could maje a video about the european market to give a little insight about the best and most reliable cars you can find around here. I know that you said that Toyotas and Hondas are good and reliable over there but is the same thing with them in europe? I was thinking of getting a Lexus but din’t know which  model to buy and I would like something that is n’t older than 5 years, has a diesel engine and is spacious as I need it as a family daily runner.
I was thinking about Volvo cars too because as far as I know they are pretty safe cars/suv’s which is also important to me.

I’m not even sure if I wrote in the correct place or that you’ll ever see this question but I really hope that you will and that I can get some answers.

Wish you all the best and keep up the amazing work

<5yrs old, diesel & reliable = your options are going to be limited to the VAG group.

Look at the Jetta & Octavia as they’re both quite reliable with a Diesel engine, as long as you stick to a manual transmission. Stay away from the DSG automatic if you have high yearly running.

If you’re after a hatchback, look at the Golf.

Looking for something bigger. Estate or SUV and only manual as I don’t really like automatic gearboxes. Jetta and Octavia are a bit limited trunk space wise.

Octavia Combi? Golf Variant?

Yeah if you can find a Combi variant with a manual, it would be ideal. You’re the first person who’s told me the boot of the Octavia has limited trunk space.. The last time I checked, it had over >500 litres capacity.

Hello!

It depends how long do you plan to have a car and what is your budget. According to Scotty's answers, he doesn't have much experience with cars in Europe. On the other hand you can find some useful advices if you check answers @dan and @inthrustwetrust give on this forum. Toyotas here can be also a good option but mostly they don't last as long as american ones do.

Good luck!

Also Russian YouTube has great insights on car reliability.
Truly unparalleled on any language, the guys over at AutoStrong-M have English subtitles and they go really in depth.

Thanks for the tips
