- I just bought a 2001 Honda Accord 2.3 L vtech with automatic trans it has 174,000 miles. I was mainly wondering what I can do to bring the car to life, in performance terms. I’ve heard these cars like to breath at higher RPM’s. So I was thinking a cold air intake. But I was wondering if unbolting the muffler and putting a less restrictive muffler on it or putting a fart can on it while keeping the stock cats. On it. Will that hurt the engine in the long run? Also would I get anymore performance putting a tuner in it? Or with that many miles would it do damage to the engine? Also I just moved into my first apartment so money is a little tight at the moment.
My suggestion is dont and save your money.
Dont take this personally i never been on the light and been worried about honda accord cleaning me up.
You are wasting your money and better spent on apartment orl turner car.
Hope this helps

I’m a die hard Honda and ford fan. And I mostly want to make the car a little louder then stock. I have a 1991 Honda Accord that I completely rebuilt. That I’ve been fixing up the past year or so. I’ve rebuilt the tranny and the engine. Then I rebuilt the front end completely. Only thing I didn’t replace on the front end was the cv axles. I have the parts for the back end. To rebuild it. Just trying to find time to get into my parents garage to do it. And when I rebuilt it. I put headers and and a resonator and straight pipes back to a resonating exhaust tip. (I think that’s the proper name for a fart can. But yea. And most of the parts I have on me. Like a cold air intake and fart can. Since I was 16 and had my first job. I’ve collected performance Honda parts. In my parents garage it has an attic. That is heated and cooled. That I have 2 side of the wall dedicated to my collection. Some of the performance parts are used and some are still in the box.
Ok thanks for the back ground and show you love the car.
If this is the case you do what make u happy.
I wouldn't add performance parts to a vehicle with 170,000 miles. I would use that money and save up to buy something newer. If you're a die hard Honda fan then there is no reason you cant buy another Honda worth doing that kind of work too.
