Hi to all, my daughter's car is a 2020 Chevy spark/auto with 6800 miles on it. It's had an issue for the past 2 months when she is driving to work 20 plus miles or even going on a small drive with the AC on it the fan slowly fades out to just ice-cold vents. Went to the dealer Reedman/ Toll in Langhorne PA. since it is still under warranty until 09/20/23. thought it would a cake walk since it's all over you tube throughout the Sparks production on trouble shooting Resistor/Fan. So went to the dealer the first time down for 4 days they told me that AC was slightly over charged they brought into spec and told me on the notes that issues with fan/ resistor is a safety protocol if the resistor get too hot is shuts down and it normal. Daughter picked up car and went to work and whooop there is same issue. I called the dealer called BS they said bring it back in where it is right now been down for 9 days if you count Sat and Sun. I just had a heated conversation with the service writer questioning the skills of her alleged 20-year A+ Technician. I was told that they ran a diagnostic and No codes / No Check engine light there is nothing wrong. Of course, no codes it's a gradual issue and I do not believe her car is even sophisticated enough to pick up this issue on a diagnostics and parts do wear out. Other than removing the resistor and putting on a bench which i know they haven't done. The consensus on YT is that if all other trouble shooting is done and is the resistor that they recommend both resistor/Fan motor parts be changed in tandem. This is an easy repair and there is easy access to both parts on passenger side. what are your thoughts. PS i know my first mistake was taking to the dealership.
Dealerships are having parts supply issues. Maybe they don't want to admit it and gave you an excuse instead. Them keeping your car for 9 days is pretty indicative. Or maybe GM told their dealerships not to replace it because it's a flaw they don't have a fix for, and to tell the customer it's "normal" instead.
Try another dealership or call GM customer national service. Otherwise you'll have to go ahead and find an independent mechanic or fix it yourself.

The Spark wasn't a successful car which is why they discontinued it.
