My 2004 Toyota Solara Sle is making loud noises from the left fan when I turn it on. The AC works just fine, it’s just the fan. What could be the issue?
Also, I recently got this car and I am a relatively new car owner. I don’t know much about my car…as in what kind of transmission it has, how many cylinders the engine has, etc. Is there a we site I can go to figure out all the details about my car using my VIN or in some other way?
You could start by reading the owners manual. What a concept!!!
Well, how would I know I have the right owners manual?
Sounds like the fan's bearing is going out. I think the fan has to be replaced if the bearing is not available by itself.
Take out your insurance card, look for the VIN, vehicle identification number, or take a picuture of it with your phone, it will be seen through the lower right corner of your windshield if you're facing the front of the car, or on a sticker on the door jam of the driver's car door, then input it into the field of this web page:
https://www.autozone.com/vin-decoder
It should show you year, make, model, number of cylinders, displacement of engine in your car.
I tried Autozone a few days ago. It can’t find anything based on my VIN.
The fan noise has magically disappeared. Perhaps there was just some debris stuck in it.
I confused 1 with l in my VIN. I signed up on the TOYOTA website. Issue solved.
