Hi Scotty,

I am wondering what a good first car would be. what would you recommend? I would like something all wheel drive, I live in Vermont and have to deal with lots of snow and ice.

You didn't say if you were looking at new or used cars, or what your budget is. Subaru is an obvious choice but you have to be careful if considering one made during the years prone to head gasket problems or if you want automatic transmission. (Stay away from their six-cylinder engine!) From what I've read Subaru has been popular up your way for a really long time, particularly since they brought out 4WD models in the 1970s. That being the case there should be plenty of mechanics around who know how to work on them.

Toyota offers an AWD in the Camry that is very reliable however, a more fun car could be the V6 Dodge Charger or Challenger they have an AWD version.
