First oil change

Back in October 2023 I purchased a new 2024 Toyota Camry 2.5 4 cylinder. The dealer said the first oil change comes at 10000 miles. Should I really wait that long to change it or should I change it around 5000 miles? It currently has 3800 miles. Thereafter Toyota recommends 10000 miles between changes running full synthetic. Is that advisable? My plan is to have my Toyota dealer handle the scheduled maintenance.

This has been discussed to death here, please use the site search function and/or see the FAQ.

The short answer is that if you want your engine to last as long as possible change oil at filter at no more than 5000 mile intervals.

We have a 2023 Camry that we bought it brand new in January 2023. We let the dealer do the Oil Change since it has those free oil changes for couple times and we always make them do our oil change every 5k miles. Even though they recommend us to change it at 10k miles. If you don't change your oil every 5k miles then your oil will get dirty and your engine may start to burn oil at higher miles. It can wear out the piston rings. Oil is cheap and Engines are expensive. Hope this helps.
