Should I repair or replace my flat tire

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2004 Toyota 4 Runner Sport Edition V6 4X4 Automatic with 172,874 Miles. I have never used the 4x4 feature on this Toyota. I bought this Toyota brand new.

My current tires have 20,000 Miles. I bought the tires in October 2019.

There is a screw in the drivers side rear tire outer tire shoulder.

I went to Costco today to get a quote for two new tires. Each tire cost is around $230.00 each. The total cost for 2 new tires with mounting would be around $500.00

This is my secondary care. I drive less than 2,000 miles per year.

I also enjoy watching all your videos.

Should I fix the tire with Slime Tire Plug Kit or should I buy two new replacement tires?

Thank You for Your Help

Did you purchase your tires at Costco? If so, they are protected with a 5 year road hazard warranty and free flat repair.

I had this same thing happen to me and I took the car to Costco (had bought tires from them) and asked them to fix the flat. They called me half an hour later saying the flat is not worth fixing so we'll just give you a new tire for free. So give it a try. But if you didn't buy it from them then no don't expect this. Also Costco does really good sales on their tires if you can wait a bit.

Try a tire plug kit, if your not driving it often then no need to spend money on brand new tires when the ones you have aren’t old, if the plug kit doesn’t work then move to new tires but I would try that and try to save money

This is my second car. I drive less 2,000 miles in 1 year. Have you use a tire plug kit? Do they work well?

Personally no. But I’ve heard good things from friends using them. Also it’s better to spend 10-20 bucks to try and fix it instead of replacing it. But if you bought it and installed it at a tire shop. Call them and see if they have free tire repair. If not then try the tire plug kit.

I have this in all my cars just in case and had to use them a while back on my big aftermarket FJ tires and it's been over 2 months and the tires haven't lost air. It's a cheap option you can try.
