Ford Crown Victoria manifolds

Hi SK,

  I just purchased a used 2005 Ford Crown Victoria LX sport sedan. The former owner did a few things to it & had the transmission replaced. I was informed by a local Orlando area mechanic to replace the car's intake manifold would run about $2000.00 total. Auto parts websites say a new Ford Crown Victoria model intake manifold runs about $200.00. The mechanic also said the Ford OEM manifold costs more but lasts longer, works better. What do you say? $2000 seems way high to replace 1 part. $800-$1200 seems more real.

@dllmobile
What reason did he give you to replace the IM?

answer:  I had a radiator service & pressure test done. The service-shop guy told me he saw a small crack where the hoses connect. He explained the cracks may get worse over time & I may need to have the Ford Crown Vic intake manifold replaced. He suggested a local shop which got great online reviews. The mechanic he mentioned said Ford intake manifolds can crack after years, 100000mi + but the factory OEM intake manifold was better overall then NAPA or website after market parts. $200 range. I'm thinking of having a cheaper part added but let a local shop I use do it. $2000.00 sounds extremely high to replace the Ford CV intake manifold. $800 to $1000 with normal labor seems more realistic. Thanks! 😎

the intake manifolds were notorious on those 4.6 motors. Just buy a quality aftermarket one from Dorman, they fixed the originally flawed design that Ford had. I replaced mine with a Dorman one with no issues.
