My 2012 Ford Taurus has keyfobs and pushbutton start features. I bought it used and only received two keyfobs. One of the fobs is working properly, the other is unreliable. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes not. I changed the battery, same results. I bought a new fob but it will not activate because the maximum of four fobs have been programmed. The locksmith says we need to erase the computer and reprogram all keys, but he says don’t do it because it may not reprogram. The dealership says the car is too old and they will not reprogram it. Any thoughts?

Come on Alex you're a veteran on this forum.

My 1999 Ford Ranger needed another key, I only had one at the time, I bought it with only 1 key. It has an old transponder key. There was a limit of three keys. I did it at the dealership. The car is only 11 years old. They would rather sell you a new car instead of fixing yours.
Scotty Kilmer did a video on this where you can hire the tech and do it yourself. I don't thin k it was too expensive if I remember correctly. It might have been this video: https://youtu.be/3RrAliUD0ik
Actually I don't think that was the video. There was another up to date one but I can't find it. I';m sure it was for modern fobs.
