Ford Super Duty Transmission Pan

Hi Scotty, I'm hoping you can answer a question I have regarding my 2017 Ford F-250, 4X4, 6.2L Gas Engine with the 6R80 (6 spd.) Automatic Transmission. I am very diligent on the servicing of the truck. We tow our 36', 12500# 5th wheel with it.  When towing up in the mountains, I notice the transmission temperature flirts pretty close to the yellow mark on the transmission gauge and makes me a little nervous. A Ford mechanic told me if I changed out the transmission fluid pan with a larger capacity one, it would allow the tranny to run a little cooler because more fluid is circulating through the tranny. This truck already has the factory the tranny cooler on it so I'm good there.  Is this guy blowing smoke or is there any truth to the more fluid the better the cooling capabilities of the transmission?  Thank You!

what is the actual temperature of "yellow"?

I think a stacked-plate cooler is better cooling value for money than a deeper pan is. A bigger pan is also a bigger risk in my opinion.
