Is Ford quality about as low as FCA’s quality (now Stellantis)?

I would say so, or at least very close.

We’re splitting hairs here:  there’s hardly any products either makes I can recommend anymore besides their heavy duty trucks and there I give the slight edge to Ford.

I’d say it’s about the same anymore. Honestly it’s a race to see who’s worst cause I can’t tell the difference between Ram quality or a chev or Ford. They’re all about the same to me. Just have different badges.

I still think Ford has the edge in slightly better build quality, though not much, sadly. I broke a hose on my 1999 Ford Ranger's EGR valve solenoid last November by accident when I was replacing the throttle position sensor. I drove the truck around for over a week like that and it never tripped the Check Engine Light. I've actually never seen that light come on in the two years I've owned it, it comes on if I turn the key on without starting, so I know it works.

My 2017 Mustang on the other hand threw the CEL literally the day my 3 year warranty was going out on my way to work and it had an EVAP code. Dealership would not fix or even look at it under the bumper to bumper warranty because they were getting it after it expired. Typical. Between the scheduled time and my initial phone call, the stupid code cleared itself and I paid a person $190 to drive my car around for an hour and say, "oh, we can't find any problems". Stupid thing came back on 2 months later for the same code. I deleted it and it's stayed away, so far. My girlfriend's 2017 Mustang has had the CEL come on at least 6 times due to EVAP codes and my mom's 2018 also had a CEL at 2 years old for EVAP problems.

No. It is still much better than FCA's quality.

Ford and Stellantis North America (no longer called Fiat Chrysler; plus Fiat, Abarth, Alfa Romeo and Maserati are now Stellantis Europe) are not the same. The ZF 8-speeds are way better than the 10-speeds. I drove a newer Ford Expedition and a Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 and the Jeep ZF8 was way smoother and better than the Ford 10-speed. This might raise eyebrows but I think they are not the same level of quality.

Diesel vehicles, Ram is the way to go. Transmissions? Chrysler also. Chrysler’s larger vehicles with the larger transmission are pretty much better (except for the 1500) and the Grand Cherokee L is definitely better than the Explorer, I’d go with the Escape for compact, the Grand Cherokee is better than the Edge, Expedition or Wagoneer? That’s hard considering we don’t know that much. The renegade and compass are both awful but so is the Ecosport but the 4 cylinder Bronco Sport is a yes, Bronco is better than the Wrangler but overall as long as you stay away from the turbo 4 cylinders and the smaller transmissions from stellantis you should be good and Ford’s smaller 10 speed is absolutely horrible but overall I’d have to say the larger 10 speeds are ok and Ford is pretty much the only company who has mastered turbocharging to the point where they will definitely outlasts Toyota’s twin turbo V6 on the new tundra and the Lexus LS’s just proves how bad it’s going to be.

What exactly is wrong with the Lexus LS? What issues are those engines having?
