"ZETEC", renamed to "ZETEC-SE", later renamed to "Duratec" and finally as "Duratec Ti-VCT" in it's final form is generally a good engine,

but they do mostly have timing belts and the earliest Ti-VCT variants were troublesome.

BUT, I would NOT recommend an MK1 Focus with so many miles.

I'd recommend a manual 3rd generation Focus with a Duratec-HE (a different engine, they were derived from Mazda's design) as the oldest small Ford that's still reasonably reliable. (EDIT: IF AVAILABLE, I'M UNSURE IF IT WAS SOLD IN THE US)
