Fuel gauge on 2023 Ford E350 malfunctioning

Hey guys, I have a 2013 Ford E350 with 25k miles on it. I noticed that the last time I was in it, the fuel gauge was buried way past full and when it was turned off, instead of going to E, it stopped at around the quarter tank mark. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Also, when you put it in reverse, the backup alarm goes off constantly. I've checked the sensors on the bumper and they aren't covered by anything so that also has me stumped. Sorry if these questions seem stupid, I'm not very mechanically inclined.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

For the fuel gauge, try to reset it first:

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position.
  2. Press the "Odo/Trip" button until the odometer is put into "ODO" mode.
  3. Turn off the ignition.
  4. Press and hold the "Odo/Trip" button.
  5. Release the "Odo/Trip" button.

If it did not help, then either the sender unit in the gas tank is faulty or you have some sort of wiring issue.

Regarding the back up alarm, aren't they supposed to do that?

Thanks for the reply. I'll give the reset a go. Regarding the back up alarm, I was under the impression that it was supposed to alert you only if something was behind you or you were about to reverse into something.

If you are talking about the loud alarm that can be heard from outside, it is always on when you put your car in reverse.

@Kovayne Do you have any aftermarket bumper guards or accessories fitted on your rear bumper/hatch?

No, everything is stock on/around the bumper.

@yaser no, it's an audible alarm on the inside. As soon as you put it in reverse, it starts alerting

Have you ever got rear ended or been in a wreck? Either way, disconnect each sensor to pinpoint the faulty sensor. Also check the wiring of each sensor behind the bumper to check if anything’s damaged or contaminated.

@InThrustWeTrust ok, I'll give that a try. I appreciate you taking the time to help!

No worries & feel free to ask again if the problem persists.
