Fuel Induction Service

Topic starter

I've seen the term Fuel Induction Service written down on some "recommended" items from the dealership/stealership.  But I never understood what they meant by it.  And I finally found out what it includes.  Here is what it includes:

• Clean Fuel Injectors
• Clean Throttle Body
• Clean Plenum System
• Clean Air Intake System
• Remove Chamber Deposits

All for the Service Special price: $179.95

1) Are these items absolutely necessary?
2) Is it worth this price for the average consumer, or are they being ripped off.

These are ‘Value added services’, which are designed to inflate the bill.

Refuse them, unless you’re positively sure your vehicle needs them.. or better, watch Scotty’s videos & do them yourself. With a $0 labour charge.

Thanks for the advice.

I’ve always seen it pop up when I took it to the dealer for an oil change. But it was never in the manual so I passed. Good to know about “value added services”.

No worries.

The infuriating bit is that these are seldom actually performed on customer vehicles. The service advisor gets a cut from the $179.95, so it’s in his/her interest to upsell you these types of ‘cleaning’, ‘polishing’ etc. If you actually looked under the hood when taking delivery of your car post service, I’m willing to bet your intake & all other related parts will be as dirty/greasy as when you drove in that morning.
