Fuel Injector Cleaner

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to use Lucas fuel injector cleaner for my 2002 sport trac. Since I'm the third owner, I believe neither the first or second owners did clean them at all and the truck has 170898 miles on it. However, I heard stories about cleaners causing damage to the engine rather than just cleaning the injectors. I know modern fuel is cleaner and have additives in it, but the truck is old. Any advice?

They won't hurt anything, providing it is made for a 4-cycle engine. Don't put Seafoam in your car.

The common problem I've heard about the cleaners is ticking sound they cause, but no one had problems with Lucas brand. It seems the best option I have.
