Oil dilution from gasoline, engine failure

My son just got a 2013 Kia Sportage EX I smell the gas in the oil 2 weeks later he threw a piston through the front of the engine engine was replaced changed the oil after 200 miles per Pep Boys instructions it has been 1 and 1/2 weeks since oil change and there is gas in the oil again my question is can a bad fuel injector cause this his engine also is stalling from time to time

Many things can cause oil dilution.

Didn't any symptoms, fuel smell in the oil, or anything in live data show up during the pre-purchase inspection of this vehicle?

(I realize this doesn't help you now since you're already stuck with that thing but keep in mind for the future that Hyundai/Kia products are best avoided.)

Another mistake is going to Pep Boys for repairs and service, especially for any serious repairs. Chain shops tend to be pretty awful and Pep Boys is one of the worst.

Leaky fuel injectors could certainly cause fuel dilution of the oil. You might want to start with a full diagnostic scan for codes and live data. Fuel injector problems should show up in fuel trims and even if the check engine light is not on there could be pending codes.

If you are unable to do this find a good independent mechanic to diagnose the problem for you.
