Hey Scotty! I have a 2002 Camry with 159k miles and whenever I accelerate to 4,500rpms or higher, I can smell engine fumes leaking inside the cabin, I tested it out with the hood open and sure enough there is smoke coming from the intake manifold, what could this be?

I would inspect the underside visually to see if there are any obvious perforations. If not, you can smoke check the system and see where the smoke comes out.

Have you smoke tested for leaks yet? If not, I would highly recommend it.

Change the head gasket. At higher rpm, you will probably have small leaks.

Hey Scotty! On my 2002 Camry 2.4L I'm getting exhaust fumes getting into the cabin (all windows and vents closed) at around 85mph or higher. In what area of the exhaust should I check for leaks?

Hey Scotty, I have a 2002 Camry with the 2.4L engine, and for some reason I am still getting exhaust fumes leaking inside the cabin after 4,000 RPM's (or 90mph+ on the highway), after inspecting the intake manifold and intake system, and repairing all of my exhaust leaks from the manifold all the way to the tailpipe. Could this possibly be a leak through the firewall? I have ran out of ideas of what else to check.

How did you test for exhaust leaks? If there are no leaks, there should be no fumes in the engine bay to make it to the firewall.

Check the exhaust manifold for signs of oil leaking onto it. You may be smelling that being drawn in by your HVAC system.

The smell is probably being drawn into the cabin through your HVAC. You can prevent this by switching to air re-circulation mode. But eventually you will want to find the source of the leak and patch it up. You can use smoke, or hook up a leaf blower to your tailpipe, spray the entire exhaust system with soap and water, and check for bubbles.
