It may be a stupid question, lol. But, I am a first time truck buyer. I know what FWD is in cars. But, what is the difference between the 2?

4x2 is 2wd, usually a rear wheel drive truck.

Fwd is 2wd, with power always going to the front 2 wheels.

4x2 - FWD or RWD, but not both.

FWD - Front Wheel Drive

RWD - Rear Wheel Drie

4WD - Four wheel drive (same as 4x4). Usually part time.
AWD - All Wheel Drive. Similar to 4WD but full-time.
NWD - No Wheel Drive. (Kia)

You’re funny. NWD.

Technically, 4x2 just means only 2 wheels (of an axle) are driven/powered at any given moment (front or back), what you might call two-wheel drive.  4x4 means power is delivered to all 4 wheels or four-wheel drive.  It’s usually used in the context of a truck or suv, which are generally RWD (rear wheel drive) platforms.  So 4x2 on RWD means the rear wheels (only) are driven.

FWD just means front wheel drive and the front two wheels are powered - think most (but not all) cars and CUVs, but we don’t usually call it 4x2.

I rarely ever see the term '4x2' being used.
