Before I start, i would just like to say that i love your work, it's rare to get help free these days, i hope you can solve this predicament i'm in. So i have a topyota opa 1zz engine year 2000 and it does something very weird. When driving it, it will hang on the first gear till i reach 3000rpm, than it will quickly jump to second and third gear, after that it shifts fine for the durstion of the ride. Second and third gear like clock work. This will all happen again after i restart my car. The car is a 4wd but was disconnected from the diff, also the speedometer does not work, had the abs sensor replaced but still nothing, about a week later the hazard lights started flashing for no reason. I had to remove the fuse to get it to stop. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

What I’d do is get a full system scan tool with live data and inspect the transmission module values in real-time (if possible and if it has OBD2)

But this being an old Toyota I wouldn’t count on that providing useful information - my old Toyota’s TCM is refusing to communicate with scan tools, and apparently that’s quite a common issue.

My main guess would be that your gearbox re-learns each time your turn on the car (as if the battery was unplugged)

maybe an issue with your battery? IMO It seems like an electrical / a computer issue and not mechanical…
