1997 Geo Metro/ Suzuki Swift opinions

I’m looking to buy a cheap 3rd car to save some fuel and have a spare. Anyone have experience with a Metro or Swift. I saw someone on YouTube say they are reliable and are extremely fuel efficient. This is to be a knock around car. Honda/toyo 4 cylinders are what I’m really looking for but if they are decent cars I don’t care haha

Use my tundra for most things/work (tinting, detail, lawncare, scrap metal)

How much do you intend to spend?

I don’t have a price cap I’d say something efficient and reliable under 5k.

Yes, those were indestructible cars. They had no power, but they were basic, uterally reliable, and the most fuel efficient cars in their day. Just stay away from the 2004-2010 Swift as it is a rebadged Chevrolet Aveo.

The one I’m looking at is a 97 I think. Doesn’t look beat up and the guy wanted 1500. I can make that in a weekend of hustling away from my day job haha

For a knock around car they can be alright. Not much you can get that runs and drives for $1500.

If you have $5000 to play with, I’d seriously consider a Fit, if you can find a good one in your area. They are extremely fuel efficient & can easily past 300,000 miles, if well looked after with minimal maintenance.

I had 2002 Suzuki Swift 1.3 AWD. It looks like Subaru Justy. Unfortunately I bought it rusted. Last year rust proceeded so much that I decided to sell it. It had about 130k km and started burning oil more intensively. Otherwise great car for maintenance. Almost everything is mechanical. I don't like further generations of that model.
