Scotty, I have a 2021 gmc terrain with 6000 miles. The transmission shutters/shakes really bad when going from 45 to 60. After 60 it goes away. It does not do it all the time. Dealer said GM is aware of the problem and they do not know how to fix or what is causing it.
I'm also told it affects other gmc models. I was told to keep track of when it does it and if it gets worse to bring it back.
What recourse do I have?
It's a lease so I might drop it off and tell them since they can't fix it they can have it back.
Thanks Joe
YouTube GMC or Chevy transmission shudder. There’s actual news stories on this.
Welcome to the 21st Century version of disposable machinery.
That uses the GM-designed 9-speed (transverse) automatic transmission, and those have been problematic for numerous GM vehicles. I’ve said it before that, even ignoring all other things GM, that transmission alone is reason enough to avoid that product: it’s a dealbreaker (that bad!). The same goes for their 8-speed AT, and I don’t have high hopes for their Ford/GM co-designed 10-speed AT.
As for recourse, GM is not the best at standing behind their products, resolving issues, as well as providing customer service. At least you leased it, and I would not get anything from them again.
This sounds like your problem

Take it to GMC. It should be fixed under warranty. If they refuse, harrass them with a law suit. GM should be harrassed the shit out to be honest. Their quality is apprentice compared to Japanese automakers.
