How remove windshield scratches from windshield wipers

Hi Scotty,

I was wondering if you have any good products or suggestions on how to remove scratches on a windshield from windshield wipers. I drive a 2017 Chevy Cruze with 80,000km and am the second owner vehicle since August. I have not had any problems so far and love the car. The car was bought in great condition aside from the fact, which I knew, that the previous owner seemed to not care about changing the wiper blades so much. The scratches are visible when exposed to the sun but visibility is still good. Since I have more time on my hands, I was wondering if you have any suggestions, tips, and products on how to remove this if possible or replace the windshield completely.

Thank you.

if you've tried scrubbing it thoroughly (something like comet cleanser should get it exceptionally clean), and the scratches are still there from rocks or grit or whatever, then the only way to remove them is to replace the windshield.

You could try some wax to make the scattering/reflections go away.

You can try steel wool and polishing compound.  But don’t get your hopes up.

For sure, if you run your finger nail over it and you can feel it catch, then they are too deep to fix.

It's either replace the windshield or find a way to live with the scratches.

NuFinish might help? It's a car polish you can use on the windshield. Helps with rain, nighttime and those noisy wiper blades. It does improve the visibility through a pitted windshield.  Been using it 4X a year for a decade myself.

As for your scratches.. for less than $10, I'd try it.

Some folks claim toothpaste can do the job (I've never tried it).

From personal experience, toothpaste (mild abrasive like a polishing compound) is good for getting off dirt and debris, like old baked-on bugs, which definitely helps visibility. But I didn’t see any effects on the scratches.
