Greetings, I am a first time buyer, my family recently migrated to the States. We are about to buy a car, a 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport, which has 86km and selling at approximately $10k. Please can you advise me on that decision. Thank you
Unfortunately the quality of those cars is highly suspect, they have had numerous severe engine and fire problems and the cars just do not hold up over time even if you manage to escape the aforementioned problems. Their much-advertised 10-year/100K-mile warranty only covers the original owner and is not transferable.
Don't take my word for it, search the board here and Scotty's videos. You would be much better off getting an older Toyota or Honda for the same price. Be sure to have an independent mechanic with a dealer-level scan tool check out any car you are considering buying. If the seller won't let you do that don't just walk away, run away.
Thank you
You're welcome - just be sure to check out Scotty's video on specific Toyotas and Hondas to avoid. Although they are overall very good, there are a few that have had problems.
