I have a manual 94 Ford Ranger XLT. I hear a slight grinding noise at a certain RPM - when accelerating the grinding noise occurs when I hit that RPM then it stops as I continue to accelerate. This occurs in all gears but is most noticeable in first or second. What would be the cause of this noise?

Does the noise occur when shifting (pushing clutch in) or just when driving while in gear?
If while pressing the clutch in it's probably your throwout bearing. If while engaging gears your clutch may not be releasing all the way, or your synchros may be worn. Otherwise, assuming the sound is coming from the area of the engine, check all your belt-driven accessories for worn bearings. If they check out it could be your clutch pilot bearing.
